PWAS Bus Campaign
2024 65 buses will be going out in the UK! spreading awareness of passing horses wide and slow. £16,000 was raised for 50 buses in 10 regions of the UK.
Donations came in not just from its UK members but also from members worldwide showing that this is not just a UK problem. Donations were also received from members who had sadly lost their horses in road traffic accidents caused by motorists passing either too fast or too clos
2023
PWAS Bus Campaign
2023 was the first year of the Buses to go around the UK spreading awareness of passing horses wide and slow. 35 buses went out in 7 regions of the UK from September to October £6,3000 was raised in few months to pay for this.
Debbie Smith & PWAS were finalists in the Equestrian Business Awards, Social Influencer of the Year 2023 category.
Sgt Terri Green who has been fantastic in helping PWAS and was also interviewed on BBC Yorkshire when they were covering a PWAS Awareness Ride this year that was being supported by Terri and her team at Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team was awarded the BHS Sefton Award.
Pete Wood from the Classic Veteran Car club and PWAS volunteers are creating a video that will advise members of the CVC club what they should do if they should come across equestrians on the road.

Awareness ride and drives
Yearly rides to raise awareness in peoples local areas
In the first year 2017 20 rides went out Nationwide
2018 - 15 rides went out Nationwide
2019 - 55 ride/drives went out Nationwide. Over 400 riders, 20+ carriage drivers, 4 mounted police officers. Walking, driving and motorbike police officers from various divisions. 30+ cyclists, over 60 walkers some of whom bought their very well behaved dogs along and a few runners attended the different organised ride/drives.
2020 - we had 150 ride/drives booked to go but unfortunately due to covid we had to cancel 2020 completely.
2021 - 178 ride/drives booked for 19th September throughout England, Scotland, and Wales
These ride/drives ranged from individuals going out with 1 or two friends to the largest ride which had over 70 horse riders.
There were also 127 sponsors for individual rides2022 - nearly 200 ride/drives went out!
2023 - 171 rides / drives took place
2015
Petition to parliament
Debbie started the petition in 2015, which gained momentum and now has over 140,000 signatures. This was debated in parliament in parliament with the support from a few people. However nothing actually came of it
